Resource productivity.

This indicator is proposed as an indicator for Sustainable Development Target 08.4 Improve progressively, through 2030, global resource efficiency in consumption and production and endeavour to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation, in accordance with the 10-year framework of programmes on sustainable consumption and production, with developed countries taking the lead

Organisations

  • UNEP/International resources panel is responsible for policy application of data but not on the data collection and dissemination per se.
  • UNIDO: Data are partially available for international reporting
  • The System of Environmental Economic Accounts provides a standard methodology for calculating this indicator. However, no international data collection mechanism is yet in place and countries are still in implementation phase.
