Percentage of total detainees who have been held in detention for more than 12 months while awaiting sentencing or a final disposition of their case ( BAA )

This indicator is proposed as an indicator for Sustainable Development Target 16.3 Promote the rule of law at the national and international levels and ensure equal access to justice for all

Organisations

  • UNODC, United Nations Survey of Crime Trends and the Operations of Criminal Justice Systems mandated by the UN General Assembly (UN-CTS).
  • UNODC collects data through its annual data collection (UN Survey of Crime Trends and the Operations of Criminal Justice Systems, UN-CTS). UN-CTS includes data for 114 countries. This coverage could increase to 184 countries if other sources (research institutions and NGOs) are included.
