A Service Registry Component or Service Catalogue Component is an architectural building block of the EIRA Technical view - infrastructure supporting the Technical interoperability layer of the European Interoperability Framework.
It is included in the Enabler grouping Infrastructure Discovery Enablers and Key Sharing and Reuse Enablers.

Service Registry Component is a specialisation of Application Component that provides Service Registration Service. It implements the functionality of registering the system service within a catalogue to be discovered by other services. It can also be considered a Resource (Repository).

This ABB is a key interoperability enabler1 for sharing/PROVISIONING and reusing/CONSUMING back-office services.

The Service Registration Component ABB  is a key interoperability enabler because it supports to achieve technical interoperability by provisioning and consuming back-office services as stated in the EIF recommendation #eif44 - Put in place catalogues of public services, public data, interoperability solutions: "Put in place catalogues of public services, public data, and interoperability solutions and use common models for describing them."

Example

The following implementation is an example on how this specific Architecture Building Block (ABB) can be instantiated as a Solution Building Block (SBB):

jUDDI

jUDDI is an open source Java implementation of OASIS Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI) specification for (Web) Services.
