A Legislation Catalogue is an architectural building block of the EIRA Legal view supporting the Legal interoperability layer of the European Interoperability Framework.
It is included in the Enabler grouping Key Sharing and Reuse Enablers.

Legislation Catalogue is a specialisation of Repository and provides an inventory of legal documents. This ABB is a key interoperability enabler1 enabling sharing/provisioning and reusing/consumption of legal documents.

The Legislation Catalogue ABB is a key interoperability enabler because it helps achieve legal interoperability by ensuring the provision/consumption of legal texts. Catalogues are also key element of the EIF "Integrated Public Service Governance" conceptual model. According to the EIF Recommendation #eif44 - Put in place catalogues of public services, public data, interoperability solutions: "Put in place catalogues of public services, public data, and interoperability solutions and use common models for describing them."

Example

The following implementation is an example on how this specific Architecture Building Block (ABB) can be instantiated as a Solution Building Block (SBB):

EUR-Lex

EUR-Lex provides free access, in the 24 official EU languages, to:

  • the authentic Official Journal of the European Union
  • EU law (EU treaties, directives, regulations, decisions, consolidated legislation, etc.)
  • preparatory acts (legislative proposals, reports, green and white papers, etc.)
  • EU case-law (judgments, orders, etc.)
  • international agreements
  • EFTA documents
  • summaries of EU legislation, which put legal acts into a policy context, explained in plain language
  • other public documents.

It also allows you to follow the procedures leading to the adoption of legal acts.
