An indicator is used to measure and analyze data. It is a single data point or a set of data points that provide information about a specific aspect of a system or process.
The purpose of indicators is to monitor and assess the performance, condition, or status of a particular variable or activity.
In ArchiMate Framework indicators can be represented using the Assessment element within the Motivation layer. Assessments are used to evaluate the outcomes of goals, principles, or requirements and can include indicators that measure performance, risk, or other relevant metrics.
Examples: the 2030 Agenda Indicators which include:
- Economic indicators like GDP growth rate, unemployment rate, and inflation rate.
- Health indicators like life expectancy, infant mortality rate, and disease prevalence.
- Environmental indicators like air quality index, water quality index, and carbon footprint.
