Rationale

In a Technotope, Processes are a key structuring element in human interactions:

All social actors invest in or depend on :

  • Content actants that store and transform information (that matters to interactions);
  • Process actants that support social actors in structuring and efficiently performing the processes they participate in.

Advances in process modeling and business process automation have contributed to the creation of process automation managers such as Red Hat Process Automation ManagerTM and the Camunda Process EngineTM.

Process actant is a general term for such systems in which the term actant has the meaning given in the Actor Network Theory[1].

Process actants can the needs for process support of people and organisations in all trades. For their deployment one needs process models and extensions, for instance in a Collaborative Planning Methodology.

Process actants are involved in the operations that actors [2] use to plan and perform their roles in interactions [3].

Social actors may benefit from using process actants in myriad situations.

Scope

The focus is on process actants for use by members of the global partnership for sustainable development.

Currently process actants are primarily deployed within organisations (AS-IS).
