A Technotope capability represents an ability that a landscape level active structure (element) possesses, and which heavily relies on a technology layer.

It is a Capability of a Technotope.

A technotope capability focuses on societal outcomes at levels international, federal, national, or local. It provides a high-level view of the current and desired abilities of an organization or landscape-topos, in relation to its strategy and its environment. Technotope capabilities are realized by various elements (people, processes, systems).

Capabilities are expressed in general and high-level terms and are typically realized by a combination of organization, people, processes, information, and technology.

Capabilities are typically aimed at achieving some goal or delivering value by realizing an outcome. Capabilities are themselves realized by core elements. To denote that a set of core elements together realizes a capability, Grouping can be used.

Unlike a technotope capability, a sociotope capability will not depend on a (complex) technology layer. For instance Financial Markets are classified as a technotope capability although they existed before there were computers and communication networks.
